The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable by Webber (Cats, The Phantom of the Opera) and Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Beauty and the Beast). Joseph is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, and is his father's favorite son. Jealousy prompts his eleven brothers to fake his death and sell him into slavery in far-off Egypt. Joseph endures a series of trials where his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Set in an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country and western to calypso to bubble-gum pop to classic (Elvis!) rock and roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

It's December 1939, and Gone with the Wind is about to storm the silver screen. Hilter invades Poland... but the biggest concern of Atlanta's Freitag family is 'Ballyhoo', a lavish ball that marks the end of the social season for the elite southern Jewish community. The arrival of a handsome stranger from New York, Uncle Adolph's new (and very eligible) assistant, unwittingly becomes a pawn between the two young female cousins in the household. Ultimately, he forces the family to deal with who they really are as they are torn apart and mended again, with plenty of hilarious comedy, sweet romance and unexpected turns. Winner of the 1997 Tony award for Best Play... "achingly beautiful"... You'll have a BALL at Ballyhoo!

Please note: There will be pipe smoking onstage in some scenes of this production.

Museum

Museum By Tina Howe.

Sunday Matinee at 2:30 PM: May 13, 2007.

sign interpretationThe Saturday, May 12 performance will be sign interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired.

Enter Museum on the final day of "The Broken Silence," an exhibition of three fictitious American modern artists. What "art" means to its makers, their families and friends; what it conveys to collectors, curators, aficionados, browsers, wanderers, philistines, and the security guards who watch over it; how it can turn people into snobs, swine, seducers, saints, or raving exhibitionists in the blink of an eye—these are among the hilarious developments Tina Howe derives from her simple theme of people in a public space looking at an object in Museum—a theatrical satire of the modern art world.

"Moving and beautiful... a passionate and thoroughly personal play about the whole world. The gallery becomes a parable of humanity... a terrific 'slice of life' comedy. If Mozart had produced a segment on modern art for Candid Camera, it would resemble Tina Howe's Museum."

Directed by Andy Regiec. Cast are listed in archives.

Reservation information and directions to the Reston Community Center CenterStage Theatre are available.

Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
